How To Ship Alcohol
UPS provides alcohol (beer, wine, spirits) shipping services within the province of pick up and ship to certain international countries for approved customers who are licensed to ship alcohol.
Who Can Ship Alcohol?
UPS only accepts packages containing alcohol from shippers who are licensed under applicable law and who have been approved for and entered into a contract with UPS for the transportation of alcohol. Shippers must possess a valid retailer, vintner, brewer or distiller licence in their home province.
UPS Requirements
Requirements for licensed entities to ship alcohol through UPS:
Contractual Service Only
- All shippers who wish to ship alcohol must enter into a UPS-signed agreement for approved alcohol shippers. UPS does not accept shipments of alcohol from shippers who have not entered into an agreement.
Shipping Solution Requirements
- The shipper must process alcohol shipments with a UPS Compatible Shipping solution, such as WorldShip or any approved third-party vendor system.
Package Preparation
Packaging Requirements
- All shipments must meet UPS packaging requirements for alcohol. UPS will accept inner packaging of moulded Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, a folded corrugated tray or a moulded fibre tray with dividers. Each packaging component secures the bottles into the centre of the shipping container away from the side walls of the shipper. Sturdy outer corrugated containers are required.
Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required
- All alcohol shipments must be made using the UPS Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required service.
