How To Return a Package
You can return a package in a few easy steps. We’ll walk you through the process.
Do You Have a Return Label?
If your shipper included a return label, you’ll need to affix it to your package
- Your shipper may have included a label in your package, or instructions to print one.
- You may be able to contact your shipper to get a label sent to you
- If you have a label from your shipper, affix it to your package
- You can either schedule a UPS pickup, or drop the package off at a convenient UPS location.
Don’t Have a Return Label? No Problem.
If your shipper didn’t include a label, you’ll need to create one
- It’s easy to create a shipping label online. We’ll guide you through every step of the process.
- Or, you can always take your package to The UPS Store® to create the label
Help! I don’t have a printer.
If you don’t have a printer, you can:
- Scan and print by mobile barcode at a UPS location; or
- Email the label to yourself (or a friend) to print later
Preparing Your Package
Pack your return in a sturdy box. Be sure to remove any old shipping labels if you're reusing the box it arrived in, or one from a previous shipment. If you don’t have one, you can order supplies online or buy them at The UPS Store.
- Seal your box with plastic or nylon tape at least two inches wide. Don’t use duct tape.
- Wrap items separately with tags, packaging materials and cushioning. Get packaging tips.
- Keep in mind, there are additional rules for special-care and prohibited items.
- You’ll need to know the dimensions and weight of your box.
Help! I don’t know how to weigh my package.
You have two options:
- Weigh yourself while holding the package, and then weigh yourself alone. Subtract one from the other; or
- Use our flat rate shipping. You don’t need to know the weight of the package at all.
