You can create a profile using the Profile Editor and then assign the profile to one or more shippers and customers. Your choices appear as the defaults in the Shipping window.
Important Tip: This procedure discusses how to add a profile using the Profile Editor. After you add a profile, you can assign it to a customer or shipper. See Assign a Profile to a Shipper or Customer.
To add a profile:
On the Tools tab, select Create/Edit Profile. The Profile Editor welcome window appears.
Review the instructions and click OK. The Profile Editor window replaces the Shipping window. The Profile Editor window looks like the Shipping window, but a closer look reveals a few differences.
Tip: If you do not want the Profile Editor welcome window to appear each time you select the Profile Editor, select the Do Not Show This Dialog Box Again check box.
Click the down arrow in the Shipper box and select a shipper.
Tip: The selected shipper determines the options and services that will appear in the Profile Editor window. If an option or a service does not appear after you select a shipper, you can select another shipper that supports the desired option or service.
On the left side of the window, select the preferred values for:
All the fields on the Ship To tab.
For a Freight shipment, the Country/Territory on the Ship From tab. The remaining fields on this tab are inactive.
Note: The Distribution tab does not appear in the Profile Editor.
On the right side of the Profile Editor window, select the preferred values for:
All the fields shown on the Service, Options, Detail, and Reference tabs.
Tip: Subsequent windows may also appear for you to enter more preferred values depending on your choices (such as Dry Ice, Quantum View Notify on the Options tab).
All the fields shown on the Customs Documentation tab; however, note the following on this tab:
The fields are shown on the Invoice, Customs Value, EEI, and CO subtabs. Your choices appear as the defaults in the corresponding fields in the Shipping window.
The Create an Invoice check box is selected and inactive if the shipper has a Paperless documentation contract and the following conditions are met: International and transborder (not domestic) forward small package shipment, nondocument shipment, non-Return Services option shipment, and non-transborder Goods In Free Circulation shipment.
The Additional Documents check box is selected and inactive for all UPS World Ease shipments.
The fields shown in the Goods grid. Your choices appear as the defaults in the corresponding fields in the Shipping window.
Click Save or Save As. Type a unique name, up to 35 alphanumeric characters, in the Enter Profile Name box.
Click Use Custom Label to display the Select Custom Label window and select which custom consignee label, doc label, and shipment label header to print when using this profile. See Select Custom Consignee Labels, Doc Labels, and Shipment Label Headers.
Click the down arrow in the Tab Order box and select the preferred tabbing order.
Tip: If you want to add or modify a tab order see About the Tab Order Editor and Use a Tab Order to Speed Up Processing.
Click the down arrow in the Required Field Set box and select the preferred required field set.
Tip: If you want to add or modify a required field set see About the Required Field Editor and Use a Required Field Set to Make Fields Required.
Use the Shipment Navigation Bar to create multi-piece shipment information for a profile.
Click Save or Save As. UPS WorldShip validates the new profile information. If the validation is successful, the information is saved. If the validation is not successful, WorldShip displays a message showing which entry you must change.
Click Assign Profile to Shippers to assign a profile to a shipper. The Shipper Profiles window appears. See Assign a Profile to a Shipper using the Profile Editor.
Notes:
No fields are required for a profile. The fields in blue are required only when the profile is used for shipping.
If you want to base a new profile on an existing profile (including the UPS profile):
Click the down arrow in the Select box and select that profile name.
Modify the required fields.
Click Save As and type a new name in the Enter Profile Name box.
Click OK.
Your new profile is saved without changing the profile on which it was based.
No message appears if you try to modify and Save an existing profile.
The UPS profile is predefined and cannot be modified and saved using the predefined name. A message appears if you try to save this profile.
