Hazardous Materials Contract Shipping

Contract Shipping

UPS Hazardous Materials Contract Service provides a standardized and more efficient method of handling hazardous materials. The service is designed to maximize the benefit to known shippers while minimizing the risks associated with these types of shipments.

UPS accepts fully regulated hazardous materials shipments on a contract-basis only. Lightly regulated goods do not require a contract. Such lightly regulated shipments include (but are not limited to):

  • Shipments of Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities or Small Quantities
  • U.S. domestic shipments of Biological Substances, Category B (UN3373)
  • Ground service level packages of materials prepared under “Limited Quantity” (LTD QTY) provisions

Note:

UPS and its customers must comply with all applicable governmental laws and regulations relating to the transportation of Hazardous Materials. Such laws and regulations are issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other regulatory bodies to ensure the safe preparation and transportation of Hazardous Materials using all modes, including highway, air, and rail.
