What is New for WorldShip 2024 (v27) – July Release
EORI Number
- An EORI number serves as a distinct identification code that shippers can input to prevent customs hold-ups when organising international shipments.
- When a WorldShip user is sending a parcel to an EORI-designated location, the platform enables the inclusion of an EORI number through a dedicated field within the international compliance tab.
- Additionally, users have the capability to import/export the EORI number.
- Shippers also have the option to store the EORI number in their address book for future reference.
TAX ID Changes
- Users will be prompted to input the Tax ID within the international compliance section.
- The TAX ID field has been eliminated from the importer address screen.
- Following the labelling guidelines, WorldShip will include the shipper's origin tax type and ID in the Additional Routing section during printing.
- When a WorldShip user generates an international shipment to or from a location subject to New Tax ID regulations, WorldShip will ensure compliance by enforcing rules regarding answering or not answering interview questions.
Paperless Returns Changes
- For non-paperless users, deselecting the ‘Process as Paperless’ tickbox will not cause the 'Upload my Documents' option to vanish.
- The default setting for shippers regarding International Returns and Import Control, UPS Returns Exchange (Returns movement), and UPS Pack and Collect shipments is to have the ‘Process as Paperless’ option enabled.
- Hover help content for the 'Process as paperless' feature has been newly introduced.
- Users creating an import map from the SIW Map Editor now have the ability to assign new names to all the fields linked with the Paperless section.
Exploring WorldShip: Providing Shipment Notifications to Customers
Using Quantum View Notify® (QVN) in WorldShip you can provide up to 5 recipients an email notification detailing the status of a shipment or parcel. There are 3 types of notifications you can add to a parcel or shipment:
- Shipment Notification – Alert the recipient when UPS receives the parcel or shipment information
- Delivery Notification – Alert the recipient about the delivery of a shipment, including the date, time, and name of the recipient
- Exception Notification – Alert the recipient when a delivery date has been rescheduled. In multi-piece shipments, recipient(s) receive one email per parcel with an exception
To use this feature, Select Quantum View Notify® (QVN) in the Options or Shipments tab in the main Shipping Window, click the Recipients button to specify recipients, type of notification and add a memo if desired. For more information, see Request QVN Notification in WorldShip Guide.
Ensuring you have Accurate Rates in WorldShip
To stay up-to-date with the latest rate and service data elements from UPS, it is encouraged to keep your WorldShip application upgraded to the latest version. When using a version of WorldShip other than the current year’s release, it is good to be aware of UPS’ data object distribution policy:
- Older than 1 year behind: Not eligible to receive quarterly rate updates from UPS. However, the latest version of last year’s release is eligible to get December/January rates is an exception.
- Older than 2 years behind: Not eligible to receive quarterly rate and other data updates such as Peak Season Surcharge, Fuel Surcharge, periodic accessorials and other service-related distributions from UPS.
While these limitations do not prevent you from processing shipment using WorldShip, you may experience an inaccurate shipping rate and the potential for post-manifest adjustments on your invoice if using an outdated version. Upgrading to the latest version ensures you ship with accurate rates every time.
