Note: Only shippers approved to ship using negotiated rates can use negotiated rates.
UPS WorldShip enables you to use and display negotiated UPS billed shipping charges for services displayed by WorldShip.
To request negotiated rates:
On the Tools tab, select Shipper Editor. The Shipper Editor window appears.
Under Existing Shipper Numbers, determine the status of the negotiated rates for each shipper, as follows:
Negotiated Rates Status Column |
Description |
(blank) |
Not enabled. |
Disabled |
Previously enabled and then disabled. |
Click "Request Rates" |
Approved and need to request rates. |
Rates Requested |
Approved and authorised and rates were requested successfully. |
Rates Applied |
Approved and authorised and rates were received and applied. The shipper can now view the rates. |
The Request Rates button is active if the status of the negotiated rates for a shipper shows Click "Request Rates." The Request Rates button is inactive if the status of the negotiated rates for a shipper shows any other status.
Select the shipper with the Click "Request Rates" status and then click the Request Rates button.
Continue as needed:
If the shipper account is authorised and is approved, the Request Negotiated Rates Response window appears and informs you that the negotiated rates will be available to download within 48 hours for that shipper.
If the shipper account is not approved and/or configured for negotiated rates, a message appears asking you to contact your UPS Representative.
If the shipper account is not authorised, a message appears asking you to authenticate the account by clicking the Authenticate button. After you click the Authenticate button, the Authenticate Your Account Number page appears. After you submit your account information, recheck the status of the negotiated rates by starting on step 1.
To apply negotiated rates:
After UPS successfully downloads the negotiated rates to your workstation and your system is idle, the Apply Negotiated Rates window appears.
To apply the negotiated rates now:
Select Apply Rates Now.
Click the OK button.
After the rates are applied, WorldShip displays the status of the updates for each shipper.
To apply the negotiated rates later:
Select Schedule Rates Update.
Click the up and down arrows to select the time when you want to apply the negotiated rates.
Click the OK button.
After the rates are applied, WorldShip displays the status of the updates for each shipper.
After setting up your negotiated rates, use the Shipper Editor to specify where you want to see these rates (that is, in the Shipping and Shipment History windows, on the package and shipment doc labels, and on the Daily Shipment Detail Report). If you do not want to show rates in WorldShip, the Shipper Editor also allows you to select a No Rates option. You can also select storage preferences for rates, which are used during shipment exports. See Set Rate Type and Storage Preferences.
