Aggregation
A method of consolidating multiple shipments to the same consignee into a single shipment. This consolidation occurs during the End of Day process, or if you are aggregating child shipments in a UPS World Ease shipment, the aggregation occurs during shipment processing (that is, when you click the Process Child Shipment button).
The following fields must match exactly for aggregation:
On the Ship To tab: Residential, Company or Name, Address 1, Address 2, Address 3, Country/Territory, Postal Code, City or Town, and State/Province/County.
On the Ship From tab: UPS Account Number.
On the Service tab: UPS Service, Parcel Type, Saturday Delivery, and Bill Transportation To. Also, if Freight Collect, Bill To Account Number, and if Third Party, the following fields in the Third Party Address window: Company or Name, Address 1, Address 2, Address 3, Country/Territory, Postal Code, City or Town, and State/Province/County.
Notes:
Aggregation can occur for all US 50 to US 50 and Canada to Canada shipments, except for approved single-piece Canadian shippers.
To set up aggregation, see Preferences Tab in the Shipper Editor Window or World Ease Tab in the Shipper Editor Window.
For UPS Trade Direct shippers, aggregation is available only if the destination CFS and the ultimate consignee for that shipper are within the United States or Puerto Rico.
For World Ease shippers, see the following for additional information: Aggregate UPS World Ease Child Shipments and Detailed Rules for Aggregating Child Shipments.
Air Freight
Air Freight refers to the mode of transportation. It offers regional, interregional, and specialty solutions in many origins and destinations worldwide.
Air Freight Shipper
A UPS customer allowed to ship Air Freight shipments. This shipper is based on origin and destination and not on whether the shipper has an Air Freight House Account.
The two types of Air Freight shippers are:
House Account Shipper - A UPS Air Freight shipper who either calls UPS to schedule a daily Air Freight collection or else uses UPS WorldShip to schedule a drop off of Air Freight shipments at a UPS Service Centre.
Occasional Shipper - A UPS Air Freight shipper who uses WorldShip to schedule an Air Freight shipment collection from the Ship From address or else a drop off at a UPS Service Centre.
Airport Code
The Airport Code box appears on the Ship To and Ship From tabs for Air Freight shipments. In each box, click the down arrow to display a list of airport codes based on the destination country and select the appropriate code for the Air Freight shipment.
Alternate Exchange Rate and Currency
UPS WorldShip displays shipment costs based on the default currency and country of origin. Use the Shipper Editor to change the currency for a specific shipper, whereby any windows that display shipment costs for that shipper reflect the alternate rate and currency. See Rating Preferences Tab in the Shipper Editor Window.
The exchange rate is the ratio at which the default currency in the country of origin is exchanged for another currency, which you specify in the Alternate Currency box.
To help you determine the currency used to display shipment costs for a particular shipper:
If a three-character code followed by an asterisk (such as EUR*) appears near or beside a shipment cost, the cost is based on an alternate currency for that shipper.
If a three-character code followed by an asterisk does not appear near or beside a shipment cost, the cost is based on the default currency and country of origin.
Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN)
An alphanumeric unique identifier assigned by Amazon.com and its partners for product identification within the Amazon organisation.
Authorised Shipping Outlet
An independently owned shipping service centre where you can ship your parcels/shipments via UPS. Shipping rates vary.
Automated Export System (AES)
A free Internet-based system sponsored by the US Census Bureau. Use AES to electronically file the Electronic Export Information (EEI) to the US Customs Service's AES, which captures and stores US export statistical data.
Bill of Lading
The first document that begins the commercial shipping cycle. This document shows such information as the origin of the shipment, the shipment destination, a description of the freight, the number of pieces, the number of handling units, and the weight.
Its purposes include:
An itemised list of goods shipped.
A receipt for the goods. The shipper and the carrier always keep one copy as a receipt of the goods shipped.
A contract between the shipper and the carrier for the transportation of goods. It specifies the movement of a shipment from one location to another and any contractual provisions on the carrier.
You can produce the following types of bill of lading documents:
Trade Direct
Consolidated Movement Bill of Lading (for Cross Border product type only)
Child Shipment Bill of Lading
Ground Freight
Straight Bill of Lading
VICS (Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards) Bill of Lading
Billable Weight
The greater of the actual weight and the dimensional weight.
TESTBillable Weight
The greater of the actual weight and the dimensional weight.
Canadian Certificate of Origin (CO)
The Canadian Certificate of Origin (CO) authenticates the national origin of the merchandise and is required by customs authorities at the time of importation. The shipper signs the Canadian CO, and depending on the destination country, certification by a local chamber of commerce or board of trade, notarisation, and even issuance of a visa by a resident foreign consulate may also be required. The Canadian CO may be required to verify origin because of treaty arrangements, varying duty rates based on the origin of the goods, or most-favored-nation treatment that may benefit goods of Canadian origin. Certain countries may also use the Canadian CO for exchange rate purposes.
Charge Back Code
An identifier to specify the department, division or other business unit in your company to be charged for shipping the parcel you are processing.
Child Shipment
There are two types of Trade Direct child shipments:
UPS Small Package child shipment - can consist of one or more parcels and must be associated with a Trade Direct consolidated movement before processing.
LTL/TL child shipment - can consist of one or more line items and must be associated with a Trade Direct consolidated movement before processing.
Child Shipment Invoice
This document declares the contents of your child shipment, in appropriate format, to customs in both the country of export and the country of import.
Place the Child Shipment Invoice inside the Doc Box of the master shipment. See Assemble Master Shipments with Appropriate Documentation.
Collect on Delivery (COD) Service Fee
The amount UPS charges to provide the C.O.D. service. It does not include the cost of any other options, such as Declared Value, nor does it include the value of the C.O.D. itself.
Commercial Invoice
The Commercial Invoice is used for import control, valuation, and duty determination. The document identifies the commodities (or goods) being shipped and their values.
A Commercial Invoice is required on all non-document shipments containing goods and is not required for document shipments.
Provided all information needed to complete a Commercial Invoice is present, use one of the following methods to process a Commercial Invoice using UPS WorldShip:
Print and Attach Commercial Invoices to Shipments - WorldShip can print Commercial Invoices as needed. See Print International Documents using UPS WorldShip.
Submit Paperless Commercial Invoices to UPS - If you have a Paperless Commercial Invoice contract, UPS can prepare and submit Commercial Invoices on your behalf as needed. This method eliminates your need to print and attach Commercial Invoices to your shipments. See Submit Paperless International Documents to UPS.
Notes:
Your invoice may vary from the displayed rates in WorldShip.
If you want UPS to remove the Commercial Invoice from an Import Control shipment before final delivery of the parcel, you must select the Commercial Invoice Removal shipment option. See Commercial Invoice Removal in Shipment, Parcel, and Pallet Options.
Connection Assistant

Consolidated Invoice Detail
The shipper has the option of creating a Consolidated Invoice Detail report (CID) only for a UPS World Ease master shipment. The CID will be sent electronically if you have a paperless contract. If you require a hard copy of the CID, it will automatically print if you have a 041 WorldEase Contract or select Print copy of Paperless Documents. The report can also be reprinted from history.
Note:UPS World Ease is available only if you have a contract for this service.
This report shows the following:
Master Shipment ID, Clearance Country or Territory, Clearance Port, Importer Account Number, bill-to information, Shipper Number, UPS Service, Total Parcels, Total Shipments and General Description of Goods.
Details from the Master Invoice.
Details from the Child Shipment Invoice.
Place this report in the documentation pouch on the Doc Box of the master shipment. See Assemble Master Shipments with Appropriate Documentation. If you do not use a packing slip or a manifest, you can duplicate this report and place it in the Doc Box.
Consolidated Movement
A group of child shipments. After collecting or receiving your shipments, UPS consolidates your shipments into one movement, transports the movement to the destination country, and provides customs clearance. After reaching the destination country, the consolidated movement is separated into individual shipments and those shipments are dropped into either the UPS Small package or the LTL/TL (see Notes) network and delivered directly to the ultimate consignees.
Notes:
Less-than lorry/Trailer Load (LTL) refers to a quantity of freight less than that required to fill a lorry or trailer.
Lorry/Trailer Load (TL) refers to the quantity of freight required to fill a lorry or trailer.
Container Freight Station (CFS)
A facility where freight shipments are consolidated or de-consolidated and staged between transport legs. A CFS is typically located in proximity to an ocean, port, or airport, where cargo containers are transported to and from.
UPS assigns the following CFSs to each approved Trade Direct shipper:
Origin CFS - An operations facility in the origin country where freight shipments are consolidated and from which the consolidated movement is then sent to the destination CFS.
Destination CFS - An operations facility in the destination country where freight shipments are de-consolidated and from which individual shipments are then sent to the ultimate consignee.
Controlled Territory
Controlled territories can include countries experiencing internal strife, or those that have strained relations with the United States. These countries are currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria (see Syria Note below). Consult the federal government’s Export Administration Regulations if you have questions about a specific territory.
Note: Goods shipped to controlled territories require more export documents, usually an Electronic Export Information (EEI) for all non-document and document shipments (except those containing normal business or personal information) and possibly an export licence.
Syria Note: UPS will not process shipments from the US and Americas Region countries to Syria; however, shipments from European and Asia Pacific Region origins to Syria will be processed.
Customs Declaration CN 22
A form required on all international UPS Mail Innovations and UPS SurePost shipments that is the USPS equivalent to a Commercial Invoice. The form identifies the commodities (or goods) being shipped and their values.
UPS WorldShip can print the Customs Declaration CN 22 as needed. See Provide International Documentation Info for UPS Mail Innovations Shipments or Provide International Documentation Info for UPS SurePost Shipments.
Notes:
To automatically print this form when you process a shipment, you must set it as a shipper preference. Using the UPS Mail Innovations or UPS SurePost tab in the Shipper Editor window, select the Print CN 22 tick box. See Add or Modify a Shipper.
This form prints on the report printer. To select a report printer, see Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
The total invoice amount (excluding discounts, freight, insurance, and other charges) for an international shipment. This amount must be equal to the Invoice line total of the shipment.
Enter the purchase price of the merchandise being shipped in the currency of the purchase. If the merchandise is not shipped pursuant to a purchase agreement (e.g. consignment sales), enter the value of similar or identical merchandise exported to the destination country around the same time.
Consignee Label
Prints in addition to the shipment label, but does not replace the shipment label. This label can be customised using the Custom Label Editor.
Notes:
To set a system preference to print consignee labels, see Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
To customise consignee labels, see About the Custom Label Editor.
Daily Shipment Detail Report
This report summarises all the parcels processed since your last End of Day process. This report lists the recipient and shipping information for each parcel as well as summary totals.
If you use multiple shippers to process shipments, the shipment information is grouped by shipper accounts, and the report information for each shipper starts on a new page. The shipper number is shown in the UPS Account No. field in the upper-right corner of the report.
Notes:
You can choose the rate type to display on this report simply by setting a shipper editor preference. See Set Rate Type and Storage Preferences.
To automatically print this report when you run End Of Day, you must set it as a preference. See Set Shipment Detail Report Setup System Preferences.
Your invoice may vary from the displayed rates.
Dangerous Goods Hazardous Materials Manifest

Data File Connection
A data file connection defines a name used to store your import or export information. For example, define a name for the import of an Excel spreadsheet that has vendor addresses or customer shipments. The connection information is stored by the name you create. After you complete the import, you can reselect or edit the data file connection for repeated use. If this name refers to a database, the Import/Export Wizard opens the same database and prompts you to select the table that has your data. If it is an Excel spreadsheet or text file, the Import/Export Wizard follows the same directory path that you previously chose and lists any Excel spreadsheets or text files to perform another import or export.
Data Mode Types for Electronic Dimensioners
There are two data mode types for electronic dimensioners, as follows:
Request Mode – If the dimensioner supports this mode, the Request Mode option under Data Mode is automatically selected and is inactive. In this mode, WorldShip sends a request command to the dimensioner and then waits for the dimensioner to respond with the weight and/or dimensions (depending on if the dimensioner is integrated or non-integrated). After receiving the information, WorldShip processes that information and updates the Shipping window.
Auto Mode – If you want these request update actions to occur automatically each time the weight and/or dimensions change on the dimensioner, select the Auto Mode tick box, and WorldShip will continually request if there is a new weight and/or dimensions and update the Shipping window as needed. If you would prefer to send the request command manually using the custom toolbar, clear the Auto Mode tick box.
Listen Mode – If the dimensioner supports this mode, the Listen Mode option under Data Mode is automatically selected and is inactive. In this mode, WorldShip waits to receive the weight and/or dimensions (depending on if the dimensioner is integrated or non-integrated). After receiving the information, WorldShip processes the information and updates the Shipping window.
Sync Mode – If you want the weight, dimensions, and barcode information stored in your WorldShip database for later use for key imported shipments, select the Sync Mode tick box. If you would prefer not to save this information, clear the Sync Mode tick box.
Note: If the dimensioner supports both Request Mode and Listen Mode, the Request Mode option under Data Mode is automatically selected. You can change the configuration to Listen Mode.
Data Type
An address is a data type. Data that you enter into an application, such as an Excel spreadsheet, has specific addresses or shipments that you may want to import into or export out of UPS WorldShip. The Import/Export Wizard lets you import six data types and export two data types.
Declaration for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles US Customs Form 3299
This form provides detailed information to US Customs regarding unaccompanied goods across the border. It is required in order to clear unaccompanied personal effects or household goods through US Customs.
Declaration Statement
The legal explanation that US Customs uses to process your shipment. It must be identical to the declaration statement used by Customs.
Deficit Weight Pricing
If it is less expensive to rate a shipment weighing greater than 20 kgs at a higher weight, then UPS WorldShip adds additional weight to the shipment to achieve the higher weight price break. This weight is not the same as the actual weight.
If WorldShip applies deficit weight pricing, the Deficit Weight Applied indicator appears as follows:
Under the shipment cost on the Service tab in the Shipping window.
On the Shipment tab in the Shipment History window.
Under Shipment Detail on the Daily Shipment Detail Report.
Notes:
UPS WorldShip supports deficit weight pricing in the following origins: Australia; China, People's Republic of; Hong Kong; Indonesia; Japan; Korea, Republic of; Macau; Malaysia; Philippines; Singapore; Taiwan; and Thailand.
You can include the Deficit Weight Indicator in an export map.
Delivery Area Surcharge
A surcharge applied to shipments delivered to residences and commercial locations in certain postal codes to help offset the higher cost of providing service to those areas.
Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD)
A small computer that records information about all shipments picked up and delivered each day.
Dimension of a Parcel
To determine the total dimension of a parcel, measure the parcel length and then add twice the width and twice the height.
Note: Refer to the UPS Rate and Service Guide for current Large Parcel Weight and Measure requirements.
The total dimension of a parcel must be 165 inches (or local equivalent) or less. The length must be 108 inches (or local equivalent) or less.
Dimensional Weight
UPS WorldShip adds the parcel-level weights to determine the shipment-level weight. Each shipment is billed by the greater of its shipment-level dimensional weight, actual weight, or minimum billable weight.
To calculate the dimensional weight of a parcel:
Multiply the length (L) by the width (W) by the height (H). The result is the cubic size of the parcel.
Divide the cubic size by the dimensional weight divisor (see Note below).
Cubic Size of Parcel / Dimensional Weight Divisor = Dimensional Weight
To calculate the dimensional weight of a shipment:
Calculate the cubic size (L x W x H) of each parcel in the shipment (see above).
Add all the cubic sizes of the parcels. The result is the total cubic size of the shipment.
Divide the total cubic size by the dimensional weight divisor (see Note below).
Total Cubic Size of Shipment / Dimensional Weight Divisor = Dimensional Weight
Notes:
The dimensional weight divisor is based on the origin and destination countries and the services. To determine your dimensional weight divisor, see the UPS Rate and Service Guide.
If the cubic size is less than one foot, the parcel is billed by actual weight.
Dimensioner
A dimensioner is a device that measures three-dimensional or cube shaped objects such as parcels, parcels, cartons, and boxes.
The measurements obtained and displayed to WorldShip depend on the type of dimensioner used, as follows:
Non-Integrated Dimensioner - This dimensioner measures and displays the parcel length, width, and height.
Integrated Dimensioner - This dimensioner measures and displays the parcel weight in addition to the parcel length, width, and height.
Distribution List
A list of customer addresses that is a quick way to process an identical shipment for each customer on the list. You select a distribution list, specify the shipment once, and UPS WorldShip processes a shipment and prints all labels for each customer in the distribution list.
Doc Box
A burgundy-striped box that identifies the lead parcel in a UPS World Ease master shipment.
Note: WorldShip supports UPS World Ease Paperless shipments without a physical doc box.
Document (Doc) Label
Shipping information that prints on a Thermal 4 x 8 or 4 x 8¼ (Perforated) shipment label. The top 6 inches shows the standard shipment information. The lower 2 inches can be customised using the Custom Label Editor. A perforation separates these two portions.
There are four types of doc labels, as follows:
Shipment doc label.
Parcel doc label.
Ground Freight doc label.
Air Freight doc label.
Notes:
To set a system preference to print doc labels, see Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
To set up a label printer, see Set Up for Thermal 4 x 8 or 4 x 8 1/4 (Perforated) Labels.
To customise doc labels, see About the Custom Label Editor.
Document Shipment
A written, typed or printed communication of no commercial value. Disks sometimes are acceptable as documents.
Domestic Shipment or Consolidated Movement
A shipment or consolidated movement in which the origin and destination countries/territories are the same.
Electronic Export Information (EEI)
Note: The Electronic Export Information (EEI) is used only if the origin of the shipment is the United States or Puerto Rico.
The EEI, formerly known as the Shipper's Export Declaration (SED), provides general information about your export transaction and is used for developing US export statistics and controls.
The EEI is only required if your shipment contains a commodity (or good) in one of the following instances:
Has a value greater than $2,500.
Requires an export licence.
An EEI is not required for shipments to Canada unless the goods are being exported under an export licence or licence exception or the shipment is destined for a third country.
Provided all information needed to complete an EEI is present, use one of the following filing methods to process an EEI using UPS WorldShip:
Submit Paperless EEIs to UPS - UPS can prepare and submit EEIs on your behalf as needed. This method eliminates your need to print and attach EEIs to your shipments. See Submit Paperless International Documents to UPS.
Note: A copy of the EEI prints for your records.
Submit Paperless EEIs with AESDirect - Use WorldShip to file an EEI with the US Census Bureau either before or after shipment departure using the Automated Export System (AES). This method also eliminates your need to print and attach EEIs to your shipments. See Submit Paperless EEIs with AESDirect.

An electronic mail (e-mail) address is the text string used to specify the source or destination of an electronic mail message.
Export Accompanying Document (EAD)
A document which contains the Movement Reference Number (MRN) which must be completed for a German export shipment with a customs value of more than 1000 EUR.
Export Control Commodity Number (ECCN)
You must type the ECCN in the ECCN box if you do either of the following:
Type the license number in the Number box.
Select the Exception tick box and then select AGR, CIV, CTP, ENC, GBS, KMI or LVS in the Exception box.
Tip: If you select AGR, you must type EAR99 in the ECCN box.
Export Declaration
When exporting goods from Canada to a country other than the United States, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) requires the exporter to declare all shipments prior to export. This declaration is a Canadian governmental regulation to ensure the collection of accurate export trade statistics and to protect the destination country from any prohibited commodities.
An Export Declaration is required for the following:
Any commodity valued at $2,000 Canadian dollars if the destination of the commodity is other than the United States, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands.
Any controlled or regulated commodity regardless of value or destination.
The CBSA approves several methods for submitting the Export Declaration, including the electronic B13A form, the paper B13A form, and the summary reporting method. For information on these reporting methods, see Canadian Export Documentation.
Export Documents
A document that must accompany a shipment shipped to international locations.
UPS WorldShip can generate the following export documents: Invoice, Certificate of Origin (CO), Electronic Export Information (EEI), Power of Attorney, and International Shipper Agreement.
For UPS World Ease users, WorldShip can generate the following export documents: Master Invoice, Consolidated Invoice Detail, CO, and Child Shipment Invoice.

HTS stands for Harmonised Tariff Schedule. Developed by the World Customs Organisation (WCO), the codes are used to classify and define internationally traded goods. In most cases, to import or export a product internationally, the traded good must be assigned an HTS code that corresponds with the Harmonised Tariff Schedule of the country of import.
Height of a Parcel
The third largest dimension of a parcel.
High Value Report
For all but Return Services shipments, this report automatically prints during the End of Day process only if you processed a parcel with a Declared Value of $1,000 or more. For Return Services shipments, this report prints during shipment processing instead of during the End of Day process. This report shows the tracking number, parcel ID, and Declared Value of each high-value parcel.
If you use multiple shippers to process high-value parcels, the parcel information is grouped by shipper accounts, and the report information for each shipper starts on a new page. The shipper number is shown in the UPS Shipper No. field.
Important: This report prints twice during the End of Day process: one copy for you and one copy for the UPS driver. To record collection confirmation for your records, ensure that the UPS driver signs your copy of the report and records the collection time and total number of high-value parcels on the last line of the report. Then, be sure to give the second copy of this report to your UPS driver for his or her records.

Provides rates for multiple parcels sent to a single address on the same day. This service offers guaranteed, on-schedule, door-to-door delivery to every address within the 48 contiguous United States and is available only to UPS daily collection account customers.
Note: Hundredweight is available only if you have a contract for this service.
Import Control Receipt
If you select the Import Control shipment option, this receipt may automatically print on the next available sheet of label stock following the parcel label for the same parcel. You send this receipt (along with the label) to your customer, and your customer keeps this receipt for tracking purposes and as proof of collection by UPS.
Note: To automatically print this receipt, you must set a system preference using the System Preferences Editor. See Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
Import Map
When you import shipment data to UPS WorldShip from another database, the data must be formatted so that it is acceptable to the WorldShip database. The import map allows you to associate each field in the outside database with the appropriate field in the WorldShip database.
Importer
The person or company (specified on the Sold To tab) who imports and pays any duties due on the current shipment.
Importer of Record
A UPS World Ease term for the agent and party responsible for the payment of duties and taxes to the appropriate government agencies. A customer may act as its own importer of record. An importer of record must be established in each destination country. When a single World Ease shipment is sent to multiple countries in the European Union (EU), the importer of record can be established in any EU country, but the customer must have a VAT ID in the country of clearance (Germany and/or the United Kingdom).
Inactive Fields in PGXY Mode
In PGXY mode (that is, print X of Y values as you process each parcel in a child shipment), several fields in the Shipping window become inactive when adding a parcel and the new child shipment matches an existing child shipment on the selected master shipment.
Inactive fields include:
On the Ship To tab, the Update Address Book tick box as well as the Customer ID, Company or Name, Street, Country/Territory, Postal/ZIP Code, and City boxes.
On the Reference tab, the Reference Number 1, Reference Number 2, Reference Number 3, Reference Number 4, and Reference Number 5 boxes.
On the Options tab, the following shipment-level options: Handling Charge, shipment Quantum View Notify and Delivery Confirmation.
On the Options tab, the International Special Commodities (ISC) types from the existing child shipment
On the Reference tab, the Use on All Parcels tick boxes.
In the UPS World Ease Manager window, the Select Master Shipment button to prevent new master shipments from being active once fields are inactive.
Inactive Workstation
Note: This term is used to describe the status of a workgroup workstation.
A workstation that is currently not running UPS WorldShip. The Workstation window shows the status for all workgroup workstations.
Intermediate Consignee
For Air Freight shippers, the person or company that receives and forwards the goods for end use, or the person or company listed on the Shipper's Letter of Instruction.
International Shipment or Consolidated Movement
A shipment or consolidated movement in which the origin and destination countries/territories are different and are not Transborder.
International Shipper Agreement
An agreement between the exporter (usually you, the shipper) and UPS that allows UPS to complete export documents on behalf of the exporter. An exporter can either file an International Shipper Agreement directly with UPS or provide a Power of Attorney document with each international shipment. Once this agreement is filed with UPS, UPS WorldShip no longer prints a Power of Attorney for each international shipment. The International Shipper Agreement remains valid as long as the registered, commissioned user of WorldShip is the same as the exporter specified on the Ship From tab. If you change any of the address boxes other than the Attention, Telephone and Fax boxes, you have designated a new exporter not covered by the International Shipper Agreement on file. If you process applicable international shipments with a new exporter, WorldShip generates a Power of Attorney.
Label Stock Dimensions
The size of the stock you use to print your labels.
Your choices are:
Thermal 4x6 or 4x6¼ - Use to print standard labels.
Thermal 4x8 or 4x8¼ (Perforated) - Use to print document labels.
Thermal 4x8 or 4x8¼ - Use to customise your labels in the extended area. Customise with a shipment label header, a generic barcode, pre-printed label stock, an SSCC-18 barcode, a graphical image, or reference numbers.
Thermal 4x11 - Use to print UPS World Ease labels.
Tip: This option only appears if you have a contract for UPS World Ease.
Laser 8½ x 11 - Use to print one label on each laser sheet and to customise your labels with a shipment label header or reference numbers in the extended area.
Laser 8½ x 11 (2 Labels per Page) - Use to print two labels on each laser sheet. For this dimension, you must select As You Complete Shipment for your preferred label printing option. You can also customise your labels with a shipment label header or reference numbers in the extended area.
Laser 8½ x 11 (4 Labels per Page) - Use to print four labels on each laser sheet. For this dimension, you must select As You Complete Shipment for your preferred label printing option.
Laser A4 210 x 297 - Use to customise your label with a shipment label header, a generic barcode, or reference numbers in the extended area.
Efficiency Tips for Laser Paper:
If you are printing two or four labels per page, selecting As You Complete Shipment as your preferred label printing option will use less laser paper than As You Process Each Parcel. Paper usage is reduced because As You Complete Shipment permits you to print two or four labels per page whereas As You Process Each Parcel only allows you to print one label per page. See Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
If you print labels for deferred shipments with international documents, you may not be able to print two labels per page even if you select Laser 8½ x 11 (2 Labels per Page) or four labels per page if you select Laser 8½ x 11 (4 Labels per Page).
You can defer your shipments during the day and then print the deferred shipments at the end of the day.
Labels for UPS World Ease
Note: UPS World Ease is available only if you have a contract for this service.
One 4" x 11" thermal label prints for the doc box and each child shipment parcel in a master shipment. The label for the child shipment parcel prints when you click Process Child Shipment, and the label for the doc box prints when you close out the master shipment. For Paperless shipments without a doc box, WorldShip prints a Summary label with instructions. If you print labels for multiple master shipments, the labels are sorted by Ship To country in ascending order.
The 4" x 11" World Ease label consists of two parts:
Address Label with the Under Label. The address label is the topmost portion of the printed label and consists of the Ship To information. The under label (which is part of the address label) is the middle portion of the printed label and is easily located by the large barcode and the INV-CC designation.
Over Label. The over label is the bottom portion of the printed label and is printed perpendicular to the Address Label with the Under Label. This part of the label shows the following information about the master shipment: port of entry, number of parcels, and last three digits of the tracking number.
Affix the World Ease label to the Doc Box or child shipment parcel as follows:
Remove the address label with the attached under label from the thermal label backing.
Apply this label to the top of the parcel.
Remove the over label from the thermal label backing, making sure not to remove the centre portion of the thermal label backing.
Centre and apply the over label so that it covers only the address label that you applied in step 2.
The completed parcel should show only the over label with the under label directly beneath it. The address label should be hidden by the over label.
Note: The centre portion of the thermal label backing on the over label must stay in place (see step 3) so that it does not stick to the address label. Once the consolidated shipment clears customs at the port of entry and the shipment is split, the over label is torn away to reveal the address label, and the parcel is delivered to the consignee by UPS.
Large Parcel
Use the total dimension of a parcel to determine if it qualifies as a large parcel. If the parcel qualifies, specify large parcel on the Detail tab.
Large parcel factors include:
Note: Refer to the UPS Rate and Service Guide for current Large Parcel Weight and Measure requirements.
For United States (US) and Puerto Rico origins: UPS WorldShip allows large parcel shipments for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet from US 50 to US 50, US 50 to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico to US 50, Puerto Rico to Puerto Rico, and US 48 to Canada.
For Canada and US Virgin Islands origins: WorldShip allows large parcel shipments (both forward and return) in Parcel Entry processing mode for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet.
For other origins: WorldShip allows large parcel shipments (both forward and return) in both Parcel Entry and Shipment Entry processing modes for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet.
The parcel length, combined with twice the width plus twice the height is greater than 130 inches and less than or equal to 165 inches (or local equivalent).
Note:
For residential or commercial shipments with the Large Parcel Surcharge applied, WorldShip displays the charge as Large Parcel Surcharge Residential or Commercial respectively.
A residential or commercial shipment from US 50 to US 50, US 50 to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico to US 50, Puerto Rico to Puerto Rico, or Canada to Canada where the longest side is greater than 96 inches will have a corresponding Large Package surcharge.
Tip: If you type a parcel dimension on the Detail tab that qualifies the parcel as Large Package, UPS WorldShip automatically selects the Large Package tick box, and the message "Large Package indicator has automatically been set on Parcel 1" appears on the Shipping window status bar.
Large Package Minimum Billable Weight
A minimum billable weight applies to the following shipments:
For United States (US) and Puerto Rico origins: UPS WorldShip allows large parcel shipments for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet from US 50 to US 50, US 50 to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico to US 50, Puerto Rico to Puerto Rico, and US 48 to Canada.
For Canada and US Virgin Islands origins: WorldShip allows large parcel shipments (both forward and return) in Package Entry processing mode for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet.
For other origins: WorldShip allows large parcel shipments (both forward and return) in both Parcel Entry and Shipment Entry processing modes for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet.
Refer to the UPS Rate and Service Guide for current Large Package Weight and Measure requirements.
A parcel qualifies as a large package when its dimension exceeds 130 inches and is less than or equal to 165 inches (or local equivalent).
Note: UPS WorldShip adds the parcel-level weights to determine the shipment-level weight. Each shipment is billed by the greater of its shipment-level dimensional weight, actual weight, or minimum billable weight.
Large Parcel Surcharge
A flat-rate, parcel-level surcharge that applies to shipments with specific origins as follows:
For United States (US) and Puerto Rico origins: UPS WorldShip allows large parcel shipments for all UPS Service types and Parcel types other than Letter or Pallet from US 50 to US 50, US 50 to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico to US 50, Puerto Rico to Puerto Rico, US 48 to Canada and Canada to Canada.
Refer to the UPS Rate and Service Guide for current Large Package Weight and Measure requirements.
This surcharge is applied to any parcel with a dimension greater than 130 inches and less than or equal to 165 inches (or local equivalent) and any weight, even one that exceeds the Large Package criteria or the longest side exceeds 96 inches. This surcharge is assessed once for each parcel in the shipment that meets the criteria.
Note: If a large parcel surcharge is not applied, an additional handling charge may apply if the actual weight of the parcel is equal to or more than 70 pounds but less than or equal to 90 pounds (or local equivalent).
If a large parcel surcharge is applied to a parcel, UPS WorldShip displays the following:
The message "A Large Package surcharge has been automatically applied to parcel 1" appears on the Shipping window status bar.
When you select the shipment, WorldShip displays a Large Package Surcharge message specific to the shipment on the Misc. tab in Shipment History.
The large parcel surcharge applies to both Hundredweight and non-Hundredweight shipments.
Length of a Parcel
The largest dimension of a parcel.
Less-than Truck/Trailer Load
Less-than lorry/Trailer Load (LTL) refers to a quantity of freight less than that required to fill a lorry or trailer.
Workgroup Administrative Workstation
A workstation connected to a workgroup on which the Workgroup Administrator's version of UPS WorldShip is installed. Only one workgroup administrative workstation is allowed per workgroup.
From this workstation, the workgroup administrator has access to all available WorldShip functionality.
Workgroup Remote Workstation
A workstation connected to a workgroup on which the Workgroup Remote version of UPS WorldShip is installed. An unlimited number of workgroup remote workstations is allowed per workgroup.
From this workstation, the workgroup remote user has access to specific tasks in WorldShip. The task configuration occurs during installation of the software; however, the workgroup administrator can change the configuration of the workstations to allow other tasks. See Configuration Checklist for Workgroup Remote Workstations.
Master Invoice
The shipper has the option to create a Master Invoice only for a UPS World Ease master shipment.
Note: UPS World Ease is available only if you have a contract for this service.
Place the Master Invoice in the documentation pouch on the Doc Box of the master shipment. See Assemble Master Shipments with Appropriate Documentation.
Map File
The name you create when you map your fields from your data file.
Movement Reference Number (MRN)
A number required on the Export Accompanying Document (EAD) for a German export shipment with a customs value of more than 1000 EUR.
UPS WorldShip validates this number as follows:
The number consists of 18 alphanumeric characters.
The third and fourth characters show the origin ISO country, which is DE for Germany.
Non-document Shipment
Goods other than documents (see document shipment definition).
Non-resident Importer
A UPS World Ease term that refers to an importer residing in a country other than the clearance country.
Object Distribution
Updates of UPS WorldShip sent to your computer electronically instead of by disk.
Offline Processing
For Air and Ground Freight shippers, a temporary situation may prevent UPS WorldShip from communicating and completing a shipment. If such a situation occurs, offline processing is available as an alternative to the usual connected processing and minimises interruption to business.
Overpack Packaging Type
An enclosure (for example, a fibreboard box) used by the Dangerous Goods shipper to contain one or more parcels to form one handling unit. As required by the regulations, all the dangerous goods parcels in an overpack must be capable of being shipped on their own, and each parcel must individually be marked and labelled before being placed into the overpack.
Parcel ID
A unique number that identifies a UPS Mail Innovations shipment. This number is assigned by UPS to each shipment and can be used to track a shipment as it moves through the UPS system to its destination.
Package Level Detail (PLD)
The shipping and parcel data about the shipments processed since your last End of Day process. This is the data that UPS WorldShip sends to UPS.
Pallet
A small wooden, paper, or metal platform (usually with a top and bottom), on which parcels are placed to facilitate movement by some type of freight handling equipment.
Collection Reference Number
A unique number that identifies a Ground Freight or Worldwide Express Freight shipment. This number is assigned to each collection request and assists the UPS driver with identifying LTL and Worldwide Express Freight shipments.
Collection Request Number (PRN)
A unique number that identifies a scheduled UPS Smart Pickup. This number is assigned by UPS to each scheduled clollection.
Collection Summary Barcode Report
This report automatically prints during the End of Day process for select shipments and origins (see notes below) and summarises shipment information about the parcels that your UPS driver is to collect. This report includes:
Your account information.
A barcode that includes your account number, a unique shipping record identifier and the total number of parcels/shipments to be collected.
Summary information so the UPS driver can verify what is to be collected. This information includes the total number of shipments and parcels and the number of parcels by service.
An area to record the name of the UPS driver who collects the parcels, the collection time, and the total number of parcels collected by the driver.
If you use multiple shippers to process shipments, the shipment information is grouped by shipper accounts, and the report information for each shipper starts on a new page. The shipper number is shown in the Account Number field on the third line of the report.
Notes:
This report prints only for small packages and World Ease shipments with US 50, Puerto Rico, and Canada origins and during close out of Trade Direct Cross Border consolidated movements from Canada to the US. For these movements, this report prints in US English and prints only for UPS Small Package child shipments. It does not print for all other origins or during close out of Trade Direct consolidated movements.
For Canada origins, this report prints in US English or Canadian French, based on the workstation's language of installation. If the language of installation is other than US English or Canadian French, this report prints in US English.
Be sure to give this report to your UPS driver when he or she collects the parcels. The UPS driver scans the barcode on the report with the Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD). Then the UPS driver signs the report and records the collection time and the total number of parcels on the bottom of the report. Since the UPS driver scans this report but does not take it, you may keep the report for your records.
Postal Service Tracking ID
The Postal Service Tracking ID is a unique number that identifies certain types of shipments. This number is assigned by UPS to each shipment and can be used to track a shipment as it moves through the UPS and USPS systems to its destination.
Power of Attorney
An agreement between the exporter (usually you, the shipper) and UPS that allows UPS to complete export documents on behalf of the exporter. An exporter must provide a Power of Attorney with each international shipment or else file an International Shipper Agreement directly with UPS. If an International Shipper Agreement is filed with UPS, UPS WorldShip no longer prints the Power of Attorney for that exporter. If you change any of the address boxes other than the Attention, Telephone and Fax boxes, you have designated a new exporter, and WorldShip generates a Power of Attorney as you process international shipments for the new exporter.
Pre-authorisation
A condition that exists when the Air Freight shipment characteristics are such that special authorisation is required before you can continue the shipping process or schedule a collection request. When a pre-authorisation scenario exists, such as the shipment exceeds a size limit or value threshold, you must call the UPS Service Centre to authorise completion of the shipment in question.
Preprinted Label Stock
Your own label stock that displays a preprinted company logo in the top 2-inch (or local equivalent) extended area of the Thermal 4" x 8" or 4" x 8¼" (or local equivalent) label.
Primary Key
Your data file includes many fields in one or more tables or columns. A primary key uniquely identifies the records stored in a data file.
Notes:
If a primary key is defined for your data file, a key icon appears above the primary key field.
If a primary key is not defined for your data file, a key icon does not appear above your fields, and you must define one.
If fields share the same value for an attribute, do not define either field as a primary key.
PRO Number
A unique number that identifies a Ground Freight shipment. This number is assigned to each shipment and can be used to track a shipment from the point the shipper creates the shipment to its destination. If the PRO number is invalid or missing, a new number will automatically be created for the shipment.
Processing Mode
Two processing modes may be available as follows:
Shipment Entry - allows you to create a shipment quickly by entering the total shipment weight and the number of parcels in the shipment instead of entering each parcel in a shipment individually. See Speed Up Processing with Shipment Entry Processing Mode. If this mode is active, the following occurs:
UPS WorldShip selects the All Parcels Identical tick box on the Service tab to indicate all parcels in the shipment are identical in weight, dimensions, and shipment options, and divides the total shipment weight by the number of parcels. If all parcels are not identical, clear this cheque box to process the shipment in Package Entry processing mode (see below).
The left side of the Options tab shows shipment options only, and WorldShip changes the Additional Handling and Declared Value parcel options to shipment options.
The Number of Parcels box on the Options tab does not appear for the Additional Handling shipment option because WorldShip applies Additional Handling to each parcel in the shipment.
A Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details appears on the Detail tab. If you type a weight in this box, the parcel dimensions (that is, the Length, Width, and Height boxes) become active.
If you select 2nd Day Air for UPS Service and UPS Letter for Parcel Type, the weight will be enabled, and Dimensions and Navigation controls will be disabled for United States and Puerto Rico origin shipments. If you enter a weight that exceeds 1, a message will be displayed indicating that the letter will be rated as a parcel.
If you select UPS Tube, UPS Envelope, UPS PAK, UPS 10 KG Box, or UPS 25 KG Box in the Parcel Type box on the Detail tab, the Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details does not appear.
The Number of Large Packages box on the Detail tab is replaced with the Large Package tick box. Select this tick box to apply Large Package to all parcels in the shipment.
The Use on All Parcels tick boxes on the Reference tab are selected and inactive.
You can save the same functionality in a profile.
Parcel Entry - allows you to create a shipment using the Shipment Navigation Bar to enter shipment information for the individual parcel in the shipment. See Use the Shipment Navigation Bar. If this mode is active, the following occurs:
The left side of the Options tab shows both shipment and parcel options.
The parcel dimensions (that is, the Length, Width, and Height boxes) on the Detail tab are active. The Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details does not appear.
The Use on All Packages tick boxes on the Reference tab are clear and active.
Notes:
The ability to select a processing mode requires your workstation to include one of the following:
One Trade Direct shipper with a destination CFS other than the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, or US Virgin Islands.
One non-Trade Direct shipper with an origin other than the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, or US Virgin Islands.
If the above requirement is not met, your workstation defaults to the Parcel Entry processing mode, which you cannot change.
If the above requirement is met, use the System Preferences Editor to select a processing mode. See Set Shipping System Preferences.
Producer
The person or company who manufactured, produced or grew the current good.
Product Type
UPS assigns a product type to each approved Trade Direct shipper.
The product types are:
Ocean
Cross Border North
Cross Border South
Air
Profile
A saved collection of predefined preferences, including various service options, parcel options, shipment options and reference numbers. Use the Profile Editor to add, delete or modify a profile.
Q-Value
A number indicating the allowed quantity of dangerous goods combined materials in a parcel. The number is required on the IATA Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods. Quantities of different dangerous goods contained in one outer packaging must be such that "Q" does not exceed the value of 1.
Note: If you select the All Packed in One Fibreboard Box packaging type for a US 48 to Canada or a Canada to US 48 shipment, the Q-Value box becomes inactive.
Range Candidates
These candidates appear in the lower right in the UPS Interactive Address Reconciler window and notify you that the correct address may fall within the specified street, suite or room number ranges. Since you can only view a candidate with a range, the Accept button remains inactive. Use the range candidates to determine the correct address and then manually update the original address information on the left side of the window.
Rate Type
The rate types used to display rates in UPS WorldShip include:
No Rates - Published, negotiated, and CCC rates are not displayed by WorldShip.
Published Rates - The standard UPS billed shipping charges for services displayed by WorldShip.
Negotiated Rates - The negotiated UPS billed shipping charges for services displayed by WorldShip.
CCC Rates - Use the Cost Centre Calculator to update the shipping charges displayed by WorldShip for shippers approved to ship using negotiated rates. These updated rates affect only the shipping rates you charge your customers, not your UPS billed shipping charges based on your negotiated rates.
Reference Numbers
Assigning a customised reference number to each parcel makes it easier to coordinate with your (or your customer's) billing or filing system. This reference number can be any information you want to associate with a parcel, such as a purchase order number, COD reference number, customer’s job number, or group of words that identifies that shipment (for example, 10 damaged widgets). You can type any combination of letters and numbers up to 35 characters.
When you ship a parcel, this reference number is recorded along with other vital information, so you can use it instead of the tracking number to track the parcel. This ability to track any UPS package by reference number (rather than by tracking number) gives you added flexibility and convenience.
See Specify the Reference Numbers and Print Reference Numbers on Labels.
Reference Qualifier
Identifies the parcel you are shipping with a customised reference number.
The reference qualifier consists of three parts:
Description - The type of reference qualifier, such as Bill of Lading Number, Department Number, or FDA Product Code.
Label - The information that appears on the label, such as Bill Coding, Dept No, or FDA Product.
Qualifier - The two-character code that is included in the shipment information sent to the UPS Data Centre, such as BM, DP, or 3Q.
You can add customised reference qualifiers by selecting More Tools on the Tools tab and then Reference Qualifier Editor.
For instructions on associating the reference qualifier with a particular reference number on the label, see Change the Reference Number Box Titles for a Customer.
Regional Value Content (RVC)
A percentage that indicates to what extent a good is produced in the producer's local region. The origin of the good's components or materials and the location of the construction or production of the good can affect this percentage. You can use the transaction value method or the net cost method to calculate the regional value content. The US government has regulations that determine the method a producer must use to calculate this percentage.
Required Field Set
The fields that you must complete in a window before you can continue. Use the Profile Editor and the Required Field Set Editor to change optional fields to required.
Residential Surcharge
To support shipments to or from residential locations, UPS defines a residential location as a collection or delivery to a home, including a business operating out of a home that does not have an entrance open to the public. A surcharge applies to each pacparcel kage collected from or delivered to a residential location. WorldShip alerts you of this surcharge with a status message on the status bar.
Return Service Customer Receipt
If you select UPS Print Return Label for the Return Services shipment option, this receipt may automatically print on the next available sheet of label stock following the parcel label for the same parcel. The shipper includes this receipt (along with the return parcel label) with the outbound shipment, and the customer returning the merchandise keeps this receipt for tracking purposes and as proof of collection by UPS.
Note: In order to automatically print this receipt, you must set a system preference using the System Preferences Editor. See Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
Shipment
A group of one or more parcels sent via the same UPS service to a single address. All parts of the address must be identical for each parcel in the shipment.
Shipment Control Form
This report summarises all the UPS Mail Innovations parcels processed since your last Close Out process. This report lists the following types of information: Shipment From, Shipment Control Number and Barcode, Product or Services, Shipment Information, Cost Centre, and Conditions of Contract.
Notes:
To automatically print this report when you run Close Out, you must set it as a shipper preference by selecting the Print SCF tick box on the UPS Mail Innovations tab in the Shipper Editor window. See Add or Modify a Shipper.
This report prints on the report printer. To select a report printer, see Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
Shipment Control Number
UPS WorldShip creates this 12-digit number during close out of UPS Mail Innovations shipments.
This number contains the following:
The shipper's 6-digit UPS Mail Innovations Account Number.
The shipper's 2-digit UPS Mail Innovations Regional Processing Facility (RPF) Code.
A unique sequential Package ID.
Shipment ID
A unique number that identifies an Air Freight shipment. This number is assigned by UPS to each shipment and can be used to track a shipment as it moves through the UPS system to its destination.
If you use offline processing and do not have a Shipment ID, you must call to obtain the number and then enter it from the Shipment History window.
Shipment Label Header
The shipment label header is 3 1/2" (width) by 1 3/4" (length). The header prints in the top 2-inch extended area of the following label stock dimensions:
Thermal 4 x 8 or 4 x 8¼ label.
Laser 8½ x 11 label.
Laser 8½ x 11 (2 Labels per Page) label.
Laser A4 210 x 297 label.
This area can be customised using the Custom Label Editor.
Notes:
To set up a label printer, see Set Up for Thermal 4 x 8 or 4 x 8 1/4 Labels with Extended Area, Set Up for Laser 8 1/2 x 11 Labels (1 or 2 per Page) with Extended Area, or Set Up for Laser A4 210 x 297 Labels.
To customise the shipment label header, see About the Custom Label Editor.
Shipment Label
Displays the name and address of the shipment recipient, service and option information/indicators, barcodes, reference numbers (if any), and special instructions (if any). One label prints when you click the Process Shipment button.
Place the laser label in the special plastic pouch designed for it. The thermal labels are adhesive; attach them directly to the parcel.
Notes:
If you select Print Return Label for the Return Services shipment option, UPS WorldShip may print a Return Service Customer Receipt.
Printing modes allow you to print labels at different times. See Set Printing Setup System Preferences.
If you use laser labels, see Maximise Label Printing Efficiency for Laser Stock.
Shipment Search Report
This report details the results of your search of the Shipment History window. This report lists the recipient and shipping information as well as summary totals.
If you use multiple shippers to process shipments, the shipment information is grouped by shipper accounts, and the report information for each shipper starts on a new page. The shipper number is shown in the UPS Account No. field in the upper-right corner of the report.
Note: You can choose a primary and secondary rate type to display in this window simply by setting a shipper editor preference. See Set Rate Type and Storage Preferences.
Shipper Number
A six-digit identifier that identifies a customer who ships parcels via UPS. UPS assigns shipper numbers. These numbers may include numbers and some letters (A, E, F, K, M, N, R, T, V, W and X are valid letters; B, C, D, G, H, I, J, L, O, P, Q, S, U, Y and Z are invalid letters).
Shipper's Copy
Note: This report does not print if the origin of the shipper is the United States or Puerto Rico.
This report may automatically print on the next available sheet of A4 or 8 1/2 x 11 stock following the parcel label for the same UPS small package and should be retained by the shipper for internal use.
This document details the following types of shipment information for UPS small packages:
Shipper - shows the Ship From or Return To address information.
Ship To - shows the Ship To or Collection From address information.
Service Level - shows the UPS service name and icon.
Shipment Information - shows miscellaneous information for the shipment, including the weight, description, and reference numbers.
UPS Waybill/Tracking Number - shows the tracking number for the lead parcel of the shipment.
UPS Shipment ID - shows the shipment ID for the lead parcel of the shipment.
Special Instructions - shows the package type and the shipment and parcel options selected for the shipment.
Bill-To Information - shows who will pay for the transportation, duty, and tax charges.
Parcel Tracking - shows the shows the tracking numbers and barcodes for child parcels in the shipment.
Report Footer - shows the date the shipment was collected from the shipper.
Note: In order to automatically print this report, you must set a shipper's preference using the Preferences tab in the Shipper Editor window. For more information on the Shipper Editor, see Add or Modify a Shipper.
Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI)
For Air Freight shippers, a document that provides all the instructions and authority necessary to prepare an international waybill.
Serial Shipping Container Code-18 (SSCC-18) Barcode
A type of barcode that can print in the lower 2-inch (or local equivalent) extended area of the Thermal 4" x 8" or 4" x 8¼" (or local equivalent) label. You are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of this barcode.
The SSCC barcode consists of the following string without the commas: (00), space,0, space, manufacturer’s identification number, space, unique reference number, space, Modulo 10 tick character. UPS WorldShip applies this format by adding the appropriate spaces as you type the number. You can type a maximum of 20 characters. An example is (00) 0 0012345 123456789 1. If you enter the tick character, the system will validate the SSCC-18 number. If you do not enter the tick character, the system will calculate the SSCC-18 number for you.
Single Workstation
A workstation on which the Single Workstation version of UPS WorldShip is installed. This workstation uses a database in its local directory where the application is stored.

US Certificate of Origin (CO)

A US CO authenticates the country of origin of the goods being shipped. Some nations restrict imports from certain countries; many countries limit the quantity of goods that are allowed to be imported or give preference to goods manufactured in the US.
A US CO is required by some importing countries for certain goods. Since these criteria change often, be sure to verify the current criteria requiring a US CO before sending your shipment. For a list of destination countries and goods that require a US CO, see ups.com/globaladvisor.
To process a US CO using UPS WorldShip, use one of the following methods:
Print and Attach US COs to Shipments - WorldShip can print US COs as needed. See Print International Documents using UPS WorldShip.
Submit Paperless US COs to UPS - UPS can prepare and submit US COs on your behalf as needed. This method eliminates your need to print and attach US COs to your shipments. See Submit Paperless International Documents to UPS.
