Archive Shipment Data

It is highly recommended to archive and delete shipments regularly. This will improve the overall performance and stability of the system. Archiving data allows you to delete old information from your database and save a copy for your records in case you need to view or restore the information at a later date.

To archive your shipment data:

  1. On the Home tab in the Shipment History window, select Archive/Restore and then Archive Shipments.

  2. In the Archive Shipments window, do one of the following:

  3. Select All Shipments to archive all shipment data.

  4. Select All Shipped On or Before (DD-MMM-YYYY) to archive only shipment data older than a certain date. The box next to this option defaults to the latest acceptable archive date. To change this date, click the down arrow in the box and select a date on the calendar. This date determines which shipment information is archived and which remains in the database.

    Tip:
You cannot delete the most recent two weeks' of data from your database.

  1. Click OK. The Save As window displays a default file name containing the date, for example 20140711.bak, which is in the format YYYYMMDD.

  2. Keep the default file name or type a new file name, and then click Save.

  3. When the progress bar reaches 100% in the Archive Shipments window, click Done. WorldShip performs an automatic database check and back up.

  4. Verify the data has been removed from History.
